Mayor’s Annual Ride for Trails
Held the third Saturday in April, “MAR” is hosted annually by the Mayor of Des Moines. Started in 1987 by then-Mayor John Pat Dorrian, this 15- and 25-mile ride along streets and trails attracts over 1,000 riders. Proceeds go to improve Des Moines trails.

Bike to Work Week
This annual festival is held the third week of May in the Des Moines area to encourage people to try biking to work.

RAGBRAI®
Started in 1973, The Register’s Annual Great Bike Ride Across Iowa (RAGBRAI®) is held the last full week of July and is the longest, largest, and oldest bicycle-touring event in the world.
